The catalog of exhibition “In Red and Black” by Igor Karash

RCC had already showed the artworks of Igor Karash in the prior seasons. Many of our guests remember his unique illustrations for the “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy.

This new collection of illustration work is bordering with satirical graphics mixed with dark grotesque absurdist visions. It reveals artistic reflection on and rejection of overly romanticized views of the western creative class towards the Red October – Bolshevik Coup in Russia in October of 1917, the event which not only created much social, political, and economical damage in the past, but also resulted in stalled democratic reforms in modern Russia.
