Exhibition “Airport” is the part of FOTOFEST 2016 Biennial.

Sergei L. Loiko has covered wars, crises and daily life in Russia and the former Soviet states for the Los Angeles Times since 1991. He reported from northern Afghanistan in 2001 and from Iraq in 2003. In 2005, he contributed to then-Moscow Bureau Chief Kim Murphy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning reports.

In 2013-2015 Sergei L. Loiko covered revolution and war in Ukraine. In January 2015 he was awarded Overseas Press Club Bob Considine award for the coverage of Ukraine-Russia war in 2014. In March Loiko was awarded Los Angeles Times Editorial Award for best beat reporting in 2014. His portfolio of dramatic images of war includes the exclusive photo package from Donetsk airport, a fierce battle that went on for 242 days in 2014 and 2015. Sergei was the only journalist and photographer there.

These photos became illustrations to the book “Airport”, recently written and published by Sergei Loiko. The book has been translated into many languages. Sergei will present and sign the book at the Opening Reception.
