The Russian Cultural Center brings you renowned sculptor Oleg Zakomorny and many of his famed works that symbolically communicate diverse plasticity and dance art. The “Art Exhibition BALLET” opened along with the Houston premier of the timeless classic ballet “Carmen Suite”, also hosted by the Russian Cultural Center at the Wortham Center on October 26, 2007.
Born in 1968 in Novosibirsk, Siberia, Oleg Zakomorny now lives and works in Moscow, Russia. After graduating from Moscow Secondary Art School in 1986, Zakomorny then went on to Moscow State Art University and graduate in 1994. He has been a member of the Moscow Union of Artists since 1996, and his works of art can be found in Moscow museums and galleries, as well as private collections throughout Russia and overseas.
The series of works presented in this exhibition show Oleg’s original perspective for sculpting as well as the art of the dance. He gives his dancers some transparent lacy-looking skirts, thus the decorativeness of the figures become intensified, and a special easiness of the dance is added to them. Each sculpture is posed differently and interestingly, and an authentic story branches off of each one.
